Woodlands
This project is a declaration of love of the woods. The idea is to capture it's beauty and atmosphere while peeling off busy looking details. I made use of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and long exposures as a means of simplification. I also like how the technique can smear colors to gradients and create interesting textures.
There's also the playful and serendipitous nature of ICM that I find intriguing. I imagine it's a bit like how a painter might experiment by pouring colors, letting them trickle down the canvas until something interesting and workable appears. Or perhaps like running brushstrokes back and forth randomly and actually finding it an improvement on the original plan.
I love wandering these great halls of pine, fir and birch. It makes me feel grounded and energized.
And that which is simply natural can become quite magical.
